(il ?) Legal Downloading

Article = none, personal opinion.

What is illegal downloading.
I have struggled to understand this question for a while now, and the answer isn't as simple as you think. The answer isn't "downloading stuff illegally" , technically an answer but hardly does it answer any questions.

Illegal downloading is ... like putting up a stand to sell seeds in the middle of the street, and posting a sign that says "10 cents a package".

It's not your street.  And you leave the stand unattended a lot, in the middle of this buy street. And the shop owners nearby don't like you , because they pay taxes for their property , and you do not. And the owner of the seeds really don't like you , because you bought a few of their seeds last month, and then grew your own , and now you're selling new seeds, seeds that have never seen the inside of their shop.

and the owner of the stand is yelling at the police he's been robbed, frequently, by passers by who keep stealing his seeds when he's not around, which is a lot. And he wants the cops to go black mail these people into giving him money for those seeds, and no returning the seeds isn't good enough because they've probably grown new ones by the time the cops catch them.

Yes. That's what illegal downloading is.
You're selling stuff on someone elses network. Someone who's not just a random stranger, they're your direct business competition. You're not paying them for use of their network, but you are expecting them to enforce security for your business. And I suppose the ultimate insult is that the thing you are selling , the software or movies ? It's not running on your equipment , it's running on someone elses equipment (the customers own their own computers) . So what exactly are you providing here ?

You made some junk , you gave it away for free (or should have known it would get away free) and now you want every cop in the world to be your salesman.  And you aint paying a sales commission. You want them to work free of charge at this. Arresting the very people they are being paid to protect , to protect your profits, oh and you probably arn't even from that country.

This is all  A SICK JOKE  !!!!

Go back to the old days where you ran your own TV network. Oh wait, we're still there. Those old TV networks are still here they're now into internet as well, but they still sell TV.

Then who are you with the illegal download complaints ?

You're some JACK ASS from the other side of the world who released some low quality recordings and now wants THE ENTIRE FREAKING WORLD to pay up , because you set up a stand on someone elses turf, let a few people steal your products, and now you want to send the cops after them.

This problem has a solution. Rather a simple one. But that solution wouldn't profit you because NO ONE WOULD ACTUALLY BUY YOUR CRAP IF THEY KNEW THEY WERE MAKING A PURCHASE.  it's one thing to download 10 movies a day if they're free. It's another to look at my wallet and realize I can only afford one movie a month , what ever shall I buy this month ...

Even worse. The crap you're forcing people to buy (I won't say sell) is as ephereal as vapours. No one has a disk in their hand. No one has some kind of object with the movie, or song, or game. And when we do purchase from you , you pull stunts like "Only works on our player, gotta pay so much a month , every month , FOREVER , or we cut you off from your own library that you spent hundreds of dollars on. "

First time my devcie, computer, whatever crashes, I lose it all. If I catch a virus, and have to reformat and wipe it all down , I lose it all.

What you should do (but you won't , because drafting every cop in the world to be your unpaid salesman is cheaper) is put commercials inside those shows to pay for them. Make special formats that only work on special players (ps4 consol games, music, etc , doesn't get copied and stolen). Upload patches every now and then so that if someone tries to make a software player you can change the format and the software dev (who's working for free) will quickly give up after a time or two.

The solution isn't a bigger "10 Cents a pop" sign on your candy stand in the middle of someone elses street. The solution is get the heck off the street entirely, you have no business being there.
